This is a light hearted one-ball event that marks the start of the season. It will take place on Easter Monday, 21 April.
As last year, it will played on half size courts to make it more accessible to those who don’t play much AC. All will play with a handicap derived from AC and GC handicaps – there is no problem if you don’t have one.
The event will also be the local heat for the National Charity One Ball competition, with the winner being entitled to attend the final at Surbiton on 17 May 2025. There is no entry fee but a voluntary donation of around £10 a head would be appreciated by the Alzheimer’s Society, the National One Ball’s charity for 2025. We are encouraged to wear something blue the Alzheimer’s Society house colour.
Depending on the number of entries the competition will probably be organised as a Swiss.
As in recent years, Joe King’s prime beef roasted on his traditional charcoal barbecue will be the focus of a two course lunch. It will be accompanied by substantial side dishes, including salads and vegetarian options. This will be followed by a choice of deserts. Excellent value at £15 a head, £18 with red or white wine. If the weather is fine, the party will open both the 2025 season and the new gazebos.
